Rebecca, a diabetic, would have her left leg swell up. After taking mangosteen juice for a few weeks, her swelling completely stopped!
My 11yr old niece had been living with me for almost 2 years. She developed diabetes when she was two years old. From the day I started caring for my niece her blood sugars have been a serious problem. Most days she was above 300 in her blood sugars and had many HI’s, which are over 600. This could be caused because of the stress not living with her mom.
The doctor was always adjusting her insulin and I would adjust it, but by February of this year it seemed the insulin was not working. March 3rd she ended up in the emergency room – she had 3 HI’s that day. It took 4 hours for the emergency room eam to get her blood sugar down into the 200’s by giving her 10 units of insulin intravenously every hour.
On March 26 we were introduced to mangosteen juice. It was a couple days before this that my niece was put on a new insulin program. I started giving her ½ oz mangosteen juice juice before each meal and her blood sugars were in the low 100’s. If she did not get the juice she would go into the 300 or 400’s. One day the nurse at school called and said my niece was not feeling good so I brought her home. Her blood sugar was HI at lunch and when I got her home it was still HI. I gave her 1 oz of mangosteen juice and in 30 minutes her blood sugar was 143 and an hour later it was down to 132 without an insulin correction.
We have upped her dosage to 1 oz with each meal and she is ok. When she does not get juice with a meal her blood sugars rise even with insulin. We have a choice to either increase her insulin or use the juice – we are using the juice.
